Of The Top-Down Cardi

You will have noticed, dear Reader, that I usually make smaller things. For some reason, the whole sweater and cardi business has not appealed to me during the last year.

But nature waits for no man, and it’s clearly wintry around these parts, so when I saw the sale for this lovely (and apparently discontinued) colorway of Araucania yarn, I decided this is going to be my next project.

I ordered, received, realized I didn’t have any needles, got myself a pair of Pony bamboo circulars and cast on.

And the above photo demonstrates rather well how I feel: endless rows of stockinette. It’s not really that bad, and once I start knitting, I don’t really mind. But it’s a bit like this thing I have with rice: if given a choice, I chose something else. It’s not that I don’t like it. I just … well, prefer other things.

Anyhoo, this yarn is great, it’s a merino/alpaca/silk mix, it’s incredibly soft and I’m sure it will be super comfy, and I like the earthy color palette.

Love all things vintage, especially knitting from the victorian era through to the swinging twenties.
